WHAT IS MOXA USED FOR?

November 19, 2021

MOXA STICKS & Moxa Cones

Moxa cones are used on points to warm up the point and channel to solve problems where cold has gotten into the acupuncture channels. They are placed on the skin and burnt then quickly removed when the heat is felt.

Moxa sticks are used to warm channels or area. If you have a muscle-skeletal problem we may use a moxa stick across the whole area. Working in the same way as moxa cones, without touching the skin, the moxa stick is waved over the skin until the heat is felt

This week we were pleased to see patients with a variety of conditions including musculoskeletal issues, mental health issues and other physical conditions such as headaches and migraines. It was great to be able to inform our patients of how acupuncture works and the principles of Chinese medicine including Yin, Yang and the 5 elements and how we use these in treatment to help get them better. We are so happy to be in Caerphilly Miner's Centre and excited for the other therapies moving in to the Wellbeing hub including a beauty therapist, osteopaths, a counsellor and hairdresser. We used the full array of our Acupuncture techniques this week including: Cupping for muscle tension Gua Sha for headaches Moxa for some of our repeat patients Auricular acupuncture for brain fog and stress Needles for all our patients Some patients were treated using 5-Element Acupuncture, some using Traditional Chinese Acupuncture and some a combined approach. All were tailored, personal treatment plans to get the best outcome for our patients.
